Joseph Alexander Harris was born
in a small town called Fayetteville, North Carolina to James and Mattie Harris
in 1952. He attended Newbold Training School as an elementary student and went
on to graduate from E.E. Smith High School in 1971. Throughout his Junior high
and high school years, he was awarded numerous outstanding achievements such as,
high school All American Linebacker, All State Linebacker and City County Player
of the Year. There were several other awards, but the list goes on. |

Joe Harris went on to pursue a
higher education at Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating in 1974 with a
major in Management. During his attendance at Georgia Tech, he was again,
ingratiated with several highly acclaimed awards ranging from Defensive Player
of the Year, All American Linebacker, to the Two Friends Award by the 100% Wrong
Club. |

His outstanding athletic
abilities led him to be drafted in the seventh round of the National Football
League to the Chicago Bears. This was the beginning of a future that made it
possible for all of his worldly dreams to come true. After playing with the
Chicago Bears, Joe went to the Canadian league for two years. Following the
Canadian League, Mr. Harris was recruited to assist the Washington Redskins by
George Allen. |

After assisting that team and its
efforts, Joe advanced his continued career as a professional football player and
was traded to the San Francisco 49er's. Joe continued his success in the
National Football League. He then went on to play for the Minnesota Vikings.
Shortly after playing for the Vikings, he continued to the next phase of his
career by playing with the Los Angeles Rams. There he played for three years.
Then, it was on to play with the Baltimore Colts in Baltimore, Maryland for one
year. |

Life's endeavors landed Joe
Harris to be one of the great players in the United State Football League. This
team was then called the Washington Federals. Then he showed his skills for the
Memphis Showboats and it was there that he retired. Mr. Harris was gifted with a
talent that gave him the opportunity to play in the Super Bowl XIV football
game. In 1979 Joe Harris was voted as captain of the Special Teams for the Los
Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl. |

Joe was then allowed the
opportunity to become a manager in the final finish division at Ford Motor
Company. He was employed with Ford for 15 years. Then a change was needed in his
life so he became a sales manager for Roberts Furniture Company. Management was
a positive aspect of his career and he moved on to be a manager at The Men's
Warehouse Clothing Company. |

Currently, Joseph Harris is an
accounts executive with one of the largest landscaping establishments in Atlanta
Georgia for Standard Landscape (Commercial). He resided in Atlanta as well. Joe
was blessed with two sons, Joseph II and Jermaine. |
